As the only medalist for India in this prestigious event, her success not only highlights her dedication but also brings pride to her hometown of Chandigarh. With her current ranking as World No. 3 in her category, Ishroop's accomplishment is a significant milestone in her judo career. Ishroop Narang's Remarkable Achievement

Hailing from the city, Ishroop Narang, a promising judo athlete from India, has made headlines by securing the bronze medal in the Women’s -78 kg category at the Junior Asian Cup 2026, which took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Currently holding the World No. 3 ranking in the Junior Women’s -78 kg division, Ishroop's accomplishment is a significant milestone.


The event, held on May 30-31, showcased top junior judokas from various Asian countries.


As a student pursuing a BA at MCM DAV College for Women in Chandigarh, Ishroop's success is particularly noteworthy as she stands out as India’s sole medalist at this esteemed international competition, bringing honor to both her country and her hometown.


Vivek Thakur, the coach of the Indian Junior Judo Team, expressed pride in Ishroop's achievement, stating, “This medal is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and unwavering efforts of the athlete, coaching staff, and support team.”


NS Thakur, General Secretary of the Amateur Judo Association in Chandigarh, also extended his congratulations to Ishroop and her coach for their exceptional performance.
