Hamilton [New Zealand], November 1: In a remarkable display of skill, Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan became the seventh player from India to reach 2,000 runs in T20 Internationals. This achievement occurred during the fifth and final match against New Zealand at Seddon Park, where he also broke Suryakumar Yadav's record for the most runs by an Indian in a single calendar year in this format.

Kishan's milestone was marked by an explosive innings of 61 runs off just 32 balls, featuring five sixes and an equal number of fours. With this performance, he has accumulated a total of 2,016 runs from 69 T20I matches, including 206 fours and 96 sixes.

This year has been particularly fruitful for the left-handed batsman, as he has scored 1,220 runs in 37 innings, maintaining an average of 35.88 and an impressive strike rate of 171.58. His achievements this year include one century and eight half-centuries, surpassing Suryakumar's previous record of 1,164 runs set in 2022.

Kishan's innings came at a pivotal moment after India lost Abhishek Sharma early in the second over to Adam Milne. Coming in at number three, he provided a dynamic start and formed a significant 93-run partnership for the third wicket with captain Shreyas Iyer.
