Irfan Pathan Joins Maha Walkathon 2026 in Mumbai

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 21: Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan took part in the 'Maha Walkathon 2026' event in Mumbai on Friday, emphasizing the critical need for soil and water conservation.

Pathan was joined by notable figures including Shiv Sena leader Sachin Ahir, Maharashtra Minister Sanjay Rathod, and actors Jackie Bhagnani and Rajneesh Duggal, among others, during the 'Maha Walkathon 2026.'

This initiative, known as 'Maha Walkathon – Walk For Water 2026,' is organized by the Soil and Water Conservation Department to raise public awareness about the significance of conserving soil and water, as well as the responsible management of natural resources.

In an interview, Pathan stressed the importance of the message, "Save soil, save water," and expressed his joy at seeing a large turnout of individuals united for the cause of water conservation.

"Everyone has gathered here to spread the message of water that is 'Save soil, save water.' This is a good message. Everyone knows its importance. It feels great to be here. We are witnessing a huge gathering of people here," he remarked.

Pathan, who is known for his left-arm medium pace bowling and all-rounder skills, has represented India in 29 Tests, 120 ODIs, and 24 T20Is, taking a total of 301 wickets across all formats. He has also scored 2,821 runs, which includes one century and 11 half-centuries.

He made his Test debut against Australia in Adelaide in 2003, where India secured a victory by four wickets, and Pathan claimed his first wicket in that match.

Pathan played a pivotal role in the final of the inaugural T20 World Cup against Pakistan in 2007, where he took three wickets and achieved figures of 3-16 in four overs, earning the title of player of the match.

He is recognized as one of the three bowlers to have achieved a Test hat-trick for India and was the first in the world to do so in the first over of a match. In 2006, he dismissed Salman Butt, Younis Khan, and Mohammad Yousuf with consecutive deliveries.
