Iran's Coach Voices Concerns Over Travel Issues

Los Angeles, California - June 21: Amir Ghalenoei, the head coach of Iran's national football team, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the challenging travel and preparation conditions that his squad is facing before their World Cup match against Belgium. He raised concerns about the inconsistent handling of their travel schedule by U.S. authorities.

Due to entry restrictions, Iran has been based in Tijuana, Mexico, and has had to cross the border for their Group G matches, a situation that has attracted significant attention during the tournament.

Ghalenoei stated, "We have only been able to train half as much as we normally would. Our goal was to achieve optimal physical and technical readiness." He further remarked, "The conditions have become increasingly difficult."

Regarding their upcoming match, he noted, "For the third game, we were allowed to make our own travel plans. However, I question why we weren't permitted to do this for the first two games as well?"

He highlighted the inconsistency in travel arrangements, questioning why logistical changes were only implemented for later matches.

While acknowledging FIFA's efforts to alleviate some of the challenges, Ghalenoei expressed frustration over the lack of support during earlier matches. He stated, "If they could make these adjustments now, why weren't they made for our first game? I recognize that FIFA and Mr. Infantino are doing their best to help us, but we still faced significant issues."

Ghalenoei praised the smooth customs process upon entering the U.S. and thanked U.S. authorities for their assistance, but lamented the restrictions on training time.

He contrasted Iran's situation with that of Belgium, who arrived earlier and had ample training time before the match. Ghalenoei acknowledged Belgium's strength as a formidable opponent but remained optimistic about Iran's talented players and their potential to compete effectively.

He concluded, "The Belgian team arrived yesterday at noon and had proper training. They are a highly respected team, and it will undoubtedly be a tough match. However, we are Iranians, and we have skilled players with great potential."
