Intense Moments Unfold as India and England Clash at Lord's Test
Dramatic Finale on Day 3 of the Test Match
London [UK], July 12: Tensions escalated dramatically during the closing moments of Day 3 in the third Test between India and England at Lord's, famously known as the 'Home of Cricket', on Saturday.
As the day neared its conclusion, Indian players were visibly charged, eager to challenge England's openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, with as many deliveries as possible.
Jasprit Bumrah was brought in to disrupt England's batting order. He attempted to unsettle Crawley with his bowling variations, but after just two deliveries, Bumrah seemed frustrated, likely due to Crawley taking his time. As Bumrah began his run-up, Crawley stepped aside, further igniting the Indian players' tempers.
Shubman Gill, the Indian captain positioned in the slip cordon, shouted remarks towards Crawley, and his teammates joined in the banter. On the fifth delivery, Crawley took a hit on his glove and promptly requested the physio's assistance.
This prompted sarcastic applause from the Indian side. Gill approached Crawley, gesturing towards the pavilion, while the English opener exchanged words with the Indian captain, and Duckett had a brief heated discussion with Gill before play resumed. Bumrah concluded the day with a stunning delivery, wrapping up an exciting day of cricket.
Former England cricketer Michael Atherton appreciated the thrilling atmosphere, commenting on Sky Sports, 'It felt like five minutes where I wouldn’t mind being out there! It was brilliant drama, great theatre. Harry Brook was laughing his head off on the England balcony when we looked up.'
'There was a bit of chit-chat, but I didn’t mind that. It was a red-blooded contest, and you have to give players a bit of leeway. I loved watching it. I thought it was a fantastic end to a nip-and-tuck day,' he added.
After three days of captivating cricket, India matched England's first innings total of 387 before losing all their wickets. England ended the day without losing a wicket, scoring 2/0.
