The Oriental Cup 2026 showcased thrilling matches on its third day, held at the Dr. Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi, despite ongoing rain. Several teams, including Mother’s International School, Mount Carmel School, GD Goenka School, Bharti Public School, and Vinay Nagar Bangali Senior Secondary School, progressed in the Boys' category, while Mother’s International School and Bharti Public School advanced in the Girls' category.
A press release noted that the competitive spirit remained high at the stadium. Mother’s International School, Delhi, started the day strong with a 2-0 win against Government Co-Education Senior Secondary School, Dwarka. Trigya Chaturvedi scored the first goal in the 10th minute, followed by Aavir Singh's goal just two minutes later, securing their advancement.
In the Girls' category, Mother’s International School also triumphed with a narrow 1-0 victory over Government Co-Education Senior Secondary School, thanks to Prithika Selvi Sundar's goal in the 22nd minute.
Bharti Public School secured their spot in both categories after Amity International School, Noida, conceded walkovers.
Mount Carmel School, Dwarka, achieved a solid 2-0 victory against Amity International School, Saket, with goals from Ranveer Singh Rana and Aryan Walia.
The most exciting match of the day featured GD Goenka School, Dwarka, who triumphed over Kendriya Vidyalaya, RK Puram, in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in regulation time. Rajat Singh Khati and Raj Rawat initially put Kendriya Vidyalaya ahead, but GD Goenka made a stunning comeback to level the score.
The day's events concluded with Vinay Nagar Bangali Senior Secondary School advancing after receiving a walkover against Delhi Public School, Mathura Road.
The Oriental Cup 2026 will continue on Friday, featuring more thrilling matches as teams vie for spots in the knockout rounds. Running from July 7 to July 16, the tournament is set to include over 1,500 student-athletes from more than 45 teams across Delhi-NCR, with a significantly increased prize pool and a ₹2.5 lakh scholarship program for ten deserving athletes.
