New Delhi [India] - The Indian women's wrestling team showcased an exceptional performance at the U17 Asian Wrestling Championships 2026 held in Da Nang, Vietnam, achieving a remarkable 100% podium finish with a total of 10 medals: 2 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze, as reported in a recent announcement.


Diksha (43kg) and Garima (73kg) led the team by securing gold medals with commanding victories in their finals, highlighting the increasing prowess of India in youth wrestling.


The silver medals were earned by Nikita (49kg), Antra (65kg), and Taniya (69kg). Taniya fought valiantly but finished as the runner-up against Khadisha Flyuk, while Nikita and Antra also claimed silver in their respective matches.


The bronze medalists included Palak (40kg), Anamika (46kg), Akshra (53kg), Sakshi (57kg), and Manya (61kg), all of whom delivered strong performances to secure their spots on the podium. Palak triumphed over Aruuke Nurbekovna Nurbekova, Anamika defeated Inzhu Bakkozha, Akshra won against Ema Arakawa, Sakshi outperformed Shiying Wang, and Manya overcame Aigerim Polatbay in their bronze medal matches.

India dominated the freestyle category, finishing ahead of strong competitors Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, who took second and third places, respectively.


This historic victory in freestyle wrestling marked a sensational continental campaign for the Indian team at the U23 Asian Wrestling Championships, where they collectively earned an impressive total of 27 medals, including eleven gold, seven silver, and nine bronze across Freestyle, Women’s Wrestling, and Greco-Roman categories.
