India's Dominance at the Asian Boxing U15 & U17 Championships
Tashkent [Uzbekistan], May 7: The Indian U-17 girls' boxing team has showcased an impressive performance at the Asian Boxing U15 & U17 Championships 2026, securing a total of 12 medals and establishing their strong presence in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
According to a statement from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), Rakhi (46kg) led the team with a confident 5:0 victory over her opponent from Chinese Taipei. Khushi (48kg) also made headlines by winning her match against Korea in the first round via RSC. Mamta (52kg) contributed to the medal tally with a decisive RSC win in Round 2 against Jordan.
Other notable performances included Laxmi (54kg), who achieved a third-round RSC victory over Mongolia, and Navya (57kg), who dominated her match against a Chinese competitor with a 5:0 win. Ishika (60kg) maintained the momentum by securing an RSC win in Round 2 against Mongolia.
The Indian team continued to impress in the later rounds, with Harnoor (66kg) and Himanshi (70kg) both claiming first-round RSC victories against Chinese Taipei. Jyoti (75kg) advanced after winning by disqualification against Turkmenistan, while Gurseerat (80+kg) capped off the day with a solid 4:0 victory over Kazakhstan.
However, Ovi (50kg) faced a tough challenge, narrowly losing 2:3 in a closely fought match against Uzbekistan.
In the boys' division, Narendra Kumar Nella (44-46kg) also shone with a commanding RSC victory, further highlighting India's strong performance across all categories.
With 12 medals secured and a series of impressive RSC victories, the Indian contingent is proving its depth and emerging talent on the Asian stage.
