India Shines at Asian Shooting Championships

In a thrilling competition at the Asian Shooting Championships 2026, held in New Delhi, Indian shooters Samrat Singh and Suruchi Singh clinched the silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. They finished just behind the Uzbekistan pair, according to reports from a sports news outlet.


The Indian duo scored a total of 479.6 points during the final, while Uzbekistan's Nigina Saidkulova and Mukhammad Kamalov took home the gold with a score of 481.3 at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range.


Initially, the Indian shooters were in the lead after the first two series, but the Uzbek team surged ahead in the final rounds, securing their victory.


In the same tournament, Chinese competitors Cheng Yen-Ching and Hsieh Hsiang-Chen earned the bronze medal with a score of 412.2, competing under a new format where the fourth team is eliminated after the fourth series.


Vietnam finished fourth with a score of 347.7 points. Another Indian team, featuring Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and Sharvan Kumar, ended up in ninth place after being eliminated in the qualification round.


On a positive note, Esha Singh won the gold medal in the Women’s individual 10m air pistol event on Wednesday, while Suruchi Singh narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth with 197.7 points.


The trio of Manu, Suruchi, and Esha had previously secured a gold medal in the women's team event on the opening day. With this performance, India's total medal count in senior events has risen to five, including two golds, two silvers, and one bronze. The championships are set to conclude on February 13 in New Delhi.
