India's ODI Squad Announced for England Tour with Kohli's Conditional Inclusion
India's Squad for the England ODI Series
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the squad for the upcoming tour of England, with Virat Kohli making a return, contingent on his fitness status. The ODI series is set to kick off on July 14 in Birmingham, followed by matches on July 16 in Cardiff and July 19 in London. Kohli had to sit out the recent ODI series against Afghanistan due to an injury.
In addition to Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, who was given a break during the Afghanistan series, along with Harshit Rana and Axar Patel, are back in the ODI lineup. However, Harsh Dubey and Prince Yadav have been omitted. Hardik Pandya remains unavailable due to ongoing fitness concerns.
Shubman Gill will captain the team, with Shreyas Iyer serving as his deputy. Despite speculation about Rohit Sharma's potential exclusion, he has been retained in the squad following a solid performance against Afghanistan, where he accumulated 143 runs across three matches. This decision indicates that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are integral to the BCCI's plans for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
India's ODI squad: Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli*, Shreyas Iyer (Vice-Captain), KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar.
