High-Stakes Matches Await Indian Men's Hockey Team

The Indian Men's Hockey Team is preparing for an exciting series of matches in the London segment of the FIH Men's Pro League 2025-26, taking place from June 23 to 28. This leg features two highly anticipated games against their long-standing rivals, Pakistan.

Following a commendable performance in Rotterdam, where they secured two victories out of four matches, India is set to face both Pakistan and the host nation, England, in crucial encounters. The matches against Pakistan are particularly significant, reigniting a fierce rivalry that has captivated hockey fans worldwide.

This will mark the first clash between India and Pakistan since the 2024 Asian Champions Trophy held in Hulunbuir, China, where India triumphed with a score of 2-1. Over the past decade, India has maintained a dominant record against Pakistan, remaining unbeaten in 17 matches with 15 wins and two draws.

India's journey in the Netherlands included a narrow 2-3 loss to the hosts, followed by a strong 3-1 victory over the reigning World Champions, Germany. Despite a subsequent 1-2 defeat in the rematch against Germany, the team concluded their Rotterdam leg on a high note with a 3-2 win against the Netherlands.

Chief Coach Craig Fulton expressed optimism about the team's performance, stating, "We had some very promising performances in the Netherlands leg. We worked very hard in the build-up, and it’s good to see the consistency coming through."

Regarding the upcoming matches against Pakistan, Fulton emphasized the need for discipline, saying, "It’s important that we treat the fixture against Pakistan like any other game and focus on our processes. If we do that well, the result will take care of itself."

Looking ahead to the challenge against England, he noted, "England is one of the teams in form and playing well. Our squad is feeling confident and looking forward to the England block."

Currently, India sits in eighth place on the FIH Men's Pro League 2025-26 points table with 10 points, while England is in second place with 26 points. Pakistan is in ninth place and has yet to score any points. All three teams have played 12 matches each as they head into the London leg.

India's first match in London will be against Pakistan on June 23, followed by a game against England on June 25. They will face Pakistan again on June 26 and conclude the tour with another match against England on June 28.
