Announcement of India's Squad for England Test Series

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] May 23: The Men's Selection Committee is scheduled to reveal the Indian cricket team's roster for the upcoming five-match Test series against England on Saturday in Mumbai, according to a statement from the BCCI.

This selection meeting will be followed by a press conference. The Indian team is preparing for a tour to England in 2025, which will feature a five-match Test series as part of the 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship.

The matches are set to occur from June to August 2025 at various venues, including Headingley (Leeds), Edgbaston (Birmingham), Lord's (London), Old Trafford (Manchester), and The Oval (London).

This series marks India's first bilateral engagement since the recent retirements of both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from Test cricket earlier this month.

Before the Test series, India will also compete in three matches against the England Lions, with the first match scheduled for May 30 at the St. Lawrence Ground in Canterbury.

Abhimanyu Easwaran will captain the India 'A' team for these matches, with wicketkeeper/batter Dhruv Jurel serving as vice-captain. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan are expected to join the 'A' squad ahead of the second match.

Rohit concluded his 11-year Test career on May 7, having played 67 Tests for India. His retirement has created a significant leadership gap as the team prepares for the England tour in June, which will kick off their ICC World Test Championship campaign.

Rohit made his Test debut against the West Indies in November 2013, accumulating 4,301 runs at an average of 40.57, including 12 centuries and 18 fifties.

Virat Kohli also announced his retirement from Test cricket earlier this month, concluding a remarkable 14-year career that included 123 Tests.

Throughout his 14-year tenure, Virat transformed the Indian Test team into a formidable force, instilling a culture of aggression and fitness. He scored 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, with 30 centuries and 31 fifties, making him India's fourth-highest run-scorer in Test history.
