India's Boxing Contingent Gears Up for Asian Championships
New Delhi, March 29 – The Indian boxing team is ready to kick off its journey at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026, which is set to commence tomorrow. The draw has revealed significant opening matches and byes across various weight categories.
In the women's division, Preeti Pawar is scheduled to compete against Elina Bazarova from Kazakhstan in the 54 kg category. Priya will also be in action, facing Rimma Volossenko, another Kazakh boxer, in the 60 kg category. Additionally, Minakshi will take on Japan's Yuka Sadamatsu, while Pooja Rani will battle Kazakhstan's Nadezhda Ryabets. Notably, several boxers including Nikhat Zareen, Jaismine Lamboria, Ankushita Boro, Arundhati Choudhary, Lovlina Borgohain, and Alfiya Patahan have advanced without having to fight in the first round.
