Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 19: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended its congratulations to the India Blind Women’s Cricket Team following their remarkable achievement in clinching the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind. The team visited the BCCI Headquarters to meet with Treasurer Raghuram Bhat on Friday.
In a message shared on X, the BCCI expressed, “We congratulate the entire team and support staff for their outstanding performance on such a significant platform.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised the team during the 128th episode of his radio program, Mann Ki Baat, highlighting their historic win in the first-ever Women’s Blind T20 World Cup.
PM Modi remarked, “It’s a remarkable achievement for the Indian team to secure this prestigious title without a single loss in the tournament.” He added, “Our nation takes immense pride in every player on this team.”
The Indian women’s blind cricket team made history by winning the Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind, defeating Nepal by seven wickets in Colombo.
After the victory, captain Deepika TC expressed immense pride in their accomplishment, stating that the entire team had put in significant effort to achieve this success.
“We are incredibly proud, and this is a monumental win. Our team is strong, and other teams fear competing against us. We are even prepared to take on the men’s team,” Deepika TC stated post-match.
Throughout the T20 World Cup for the Blind, India showcased exceptional skill, remaining undefeated to claim the championship. They began their journey by overcoming Sri Lanka.
India secured a 57-run victory against Australia, who were unable to meet the 293-run target. In a thrilling match against arch-rivals Pakistan, India chased down a target of 136 runs in just 10.2 overs. In the semi-finals, India dominated Australia, winning by nine wickets and ultimately sealing the trophy with a decisive victory over Nepal.
