Indian Contingent's Success at Ulaanbaatar Open
The Indian wrestling team concluded their participation in the Ulaanbaatar Open Senior Ranking Series with an impressive haul of 17 medals, including three golds in men's freestyle events, as reported by a leading sports media outlet.
Outstanding performances from the male wrestlers contributed to a total of seven medals in the men's freestyle category, solidifying India's position among the top three teams in the tournament.
Deepak triumphed in the 62 kg category, decisively defeating Kazakhstan's Assyl Aitakyn with a score of 6-0. In the heavyweight division, Dinesh showcased his skills by overcoming Kazakhstan's Yedige Kassimbek 2-0 in the final match of the 125kg class. Sagar also displayed remarkable determination, edging out Russia's Tamir Eshinimaev 3-2 to secure the gold in the men's 74 kg.
Additionally, four more medals were earned by Indian wrestlers in freestyle, with Sumit (57kg), Kumar Mohit (65kg), Jaideep (74kg), and Vicky (97kg) contributing to the medal tally, ultimately placing India as runners-up in the team championship, just behind Russia.
Earlier in the competition, the Indian Greco-Roman wrestlers achieved notable success as well, claiming two gold medals through Sunil (87kg) and Nitesh (97kg), while Sahil added a bronze in the 60kg category. The Greco-Roman team secured the championship title with a total of 119 points.
The women's team also made a significant impact, bringing home seven medals, including golds from Manisha (57kg), Neha (59kg), and Kajal (76kg). Bronze medals were awarded to Neelam (50kg), Hansika Lamba (55kg), Mansi (62kg), and Priya (76kg).
