Indian Women's Team Faces Setback as Renuka Singh Thakur Misses Test Against Australia
Renuka Singh Thakur Ruled Out of Test Match
The Indian women's cricket team, currently in Australia, encountered a setback on Tuesday when seasoned fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur was sidelined from the upcoming one-off Test due to workload management concerns.
In her absence, Kashvee Gautam has been appointed as her replacement, as confirmed by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.
Saikia stated, "Renuka Thakur will not participate in the Only-Test at the WACA Ground in Perth, which is part of the ongoing multi-format series against the Australian women's team."
He further explained, "To effectively manage her workload, Renuka has been advised to take rest and will not be available for selection for the pink-ball Test. The BCCI medical team will monitor her fitness closely."
Kashvee Gautam, who was also included in the ODI squad for the ongoing series, will step in for Renuka.
The Test match is set to commence on Friday.
Kashvee has participated in six ODIs for India, claiming three wickets, and has taken 19 wickets across 18 matches in the Women's Premier League.
India recently secured a 2-1 victory in the T20I series but faced a clean sweep in the three-match ODI series.
