New Delhi, September 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to the Indian women's 4x400m relay team for their remarkable achievement of winning a gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 held in Aichi-Nagoya. He described their accomplishment as a splendid demonstration of teamwork.

This victory marked India's first athletics gold medal at the Asian Games 2026, with the women's 4x400m relay team emerging victorious in the final. The talented quartet, consisting of Kiran Pahal, Machettira Poovamma, Prachi Choudhary, and Vithya Ramraj, clocked an impressive time of 3:29.69, securing the top position. Bahrain followed closely, earning the silver medal with a time of 3:30.21, while China took home the bronze with a time of 3:31.02.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister praised the athletes for their outstanding performance, highlighting their speed, determination, and teamwork. Notably, the women's 4x400m relay team secured India's second gold medal of the day. Earlier, Neeru Dhanda made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual medal in the women’s trap event at the Asian Games, clinching gold in the final.
