Indian Girls Excel in Boxing Semifinals

Tashkent [Uzbekistan], May 9: The Indian girls showcased an impressive performance during the semifinals of the Asian Boxing U15 & U17 Championships 2026 on Saturday.


A total of nine Indian boxers from the U-15 category have advanced to the finals after their remarkable performances in Tashkent.


In the 30-33kg weight class, Akshita achieved a decisive victory by Referee Stops Contest (RSC) in the second round against Kazakhstan's Ayazhan Marat.


Jiya faced a tough match in the 35kg category but ultimately lost by a split decision of 1:4 to Malika Moldogazieva from Kyrgyzstan.


Anzee (37kg) continued India's strong momentum with a convincing 5:0 win over Uzbekistan's Sarvinoz Riskulova, while Soniya (40kg) also triumphed with a dominant 5:0 victory against Kazakhstan's Diana Mendigarayeva.


In the 43kg division, Tanvi secured a win by RSC in the second round against Kazakhstan's Sezim Nurlubek. Hanshika Attri (46kg) followed suit with an impressive RSC victory in the first round over Korea's Yuhui Cheon.


In the 49kg category, Khushi Rana faced a setback, losing 0:5 to Zebiniso Abdullayeva of Uzbekistan, while Knishka (52kg) also fell short, losing 0:5 against Kazakhstan's Samal Tolepbergen.


Sunaina (58kg) delivered a strong performance, winning by RSC in the first round against Ardak Abdikhan from Kazakhstan.


Bhumika (61kg) secured a victory by RSC in the second round against Chiao-Ying Chang of Chinese Taipei.


Tannvi (64kg) achieved a hard-fought 4:1 win over Kazakhstan's Yasmin Jautkhanova to reach the finals.


In the higher weight classes, Aashvi (67kg) lost by RSC in the second round against Nurgul Sakhi from Kazakhstan, while Manvi (70+kg) was defeated 0:5 by Zahro Daniyorova of Uzbekistan.


With nine finalists confirmed, the Indian U-15 girls team is now eager to convert their strong performances into gold medals.
