Indian Supercross Racing League Season 3 Sees Record Rider Registrations
Record Participation in Season 3 of ISRL
Pune (Maharashtra) [India], October 7: The Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL), recognized as the first franchise-based Supercross league globally, has successfully concluded its rider registration for the third season, attracting a remarkable 146 competitors from 21 nations across four racing categories.
This impressive roster features both renowned international racers and top Supercross talents from India, enhancing the competitive landscape and fostering the growth of Supercross within the country.
Among the registrations, India boasts 30 entries in the newly launched 250cc – Group ‘A’ Foreign Bikes only – Indian Futures category, along with the 250cc India Asia Mix category, as detailed in a press release from ISRL.
Leading the international contingent is France with 32 riders, followed by Australia with 20 and the United States with 18. Additional participants hail from countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Canada, South Africa, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and Mongolia. The registrations are distributed among 40 riders in the 450cc International category, 54 in the 250cc International category, and 26 in the 250cc India Asia Mix category, showcasing the championship's growing diversity and competitiveness.
This season's rider lineup includes some of the sport's most prominent figures. The 450cc International category features Season 2 champion Matt Moss, along with Jordi Tixier, John Short, Anthony Bourdon, Gregory Aranda, Ryan Breece, Luke Clout, and Anthony Rodriguez. In the 250cc International class, notable riders include Reid Taylor, Calvin Fonvieille, Justin Rodbell, and Nico Koch. The 250cc India Asia Mix category also includes talents like Witsarut Salangam, Thanarat Penjan, Athison Ruadreo, Nakami Vidi Makarim, Ben Hallgren, and Muhammad Athar Alghifari, enriching the international competition.
India's representation features some of the nation's top Supercross athletes, including Rugved Barguje, Prajwal Vishwanath, Shlok Ghorpade, and Ikshan Shanbhag. Their participation alongside a diverse global field promises thrilling races and provides Indian riders with the chance to compete against elite international competitors on home turf.
Eeshan Lokhande, Co-Founder & Director of the Indian Supercross Racing League, remarked on the significance of this year's registrations, stating, “The importance of this year's registrations goes beyond just the number of riders or countries involved. The choice of accomplished riders from established Supercross markets to race in India reflects growing confidence in our sporting standards and the direction of our ecosystem. Matt Moss, the reigning ISRL Champion, expressed his excitement, saying, “Winning back-to-back ISRL championships has been an amazing experience. With rider registrations now finalized, the league will shift its attention to the upcoming rider auction, where franchises will select their teams for Season 3 from the pool of registered competitors. This event will be a significant milestone in the league's calendar, determining team compositions and setting the stage for the competitive season ahead as preparations ramp up for the opening round.
