Indian Super League Set to Kick Off on February 14, Confirms Sports Minister
Confirmation of ISL Resumption
In a recent announcement, Parth Jindal, the owner of Bengaluru FC, expressed gratitude towards Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya for facilitating the return of the Indian Super League (ISL).
On Tuesday, Mandaviya confirmed that the ISL is scheduled to commence on February 14, with all 14 participating clubs agreeing to take part this season.
Jindal shared his thoughts on social media, emphasizing the sacrifices being made by all clubs to ensure the league continues in its current format. He urged players to recognize the financial challenges faced by clubs and to consider making their own sacrifices.
He stated, "The tremendous sacrifices required from all clubs to maintain the ISL are concerning. The consequences of not having a league could be dire. I want to thank the Honourable Sports Minister for his intervention and proposal. I sincerely hope players understand the financial strain on clubs and are willing to make sacrifices as we navigate this together."
Jindal further noted, "Our commitment to football stems from our passion for the sport and our desire to see our nation excel in it. Football has been a financial struggle for many, and without player support this year, several clubs may face closure."
Mandaviya reiterated that all clubs are on board for the upcoming season, stating, "We have decided that the ISL will kick off on February 14, and all clubs will participate."
He highlighted the progress of football in India, noting that the league plays a crucial role in developing talented players. "The ISL will be held with the aim of enhancing football in our country," he added.
Last week, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) convened an Emergency Committee meeting to finalize the ISL dates, following a report from the AIFF-ISL Coordination Committee.
This committee was established on December 20, 2025, after discussions during the AIFF Executive Committee meeting and the Annual General Meeting. The committee was tasked with delivering its findings to the AIFF Secretariat by January 2, which it successfully accomplished. The AIFF Emergency Committee has since acknowledged the report and recommended that the league proceed.
