Confidence Soars for Indian Shooting Team

New Delhi, September 8: Swapnil Kusale, who made history as the first Indian shooter to clinch an Olympic medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions, expressed optimism regarding the performance of India's shooting team at the upcoming Asian Games 2026. Kusale secured a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Games.

He emphasized that the athletes are committed to delivering their best, regardless of the pressure, and he believes the Indian shooting squad will bring pride to the nation.

Kusale shared his thoughts during a special send-off event for India's contingent for the Asian Games 2026, organized by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) in New Delhi.

The Asian Games 2026 are scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya.

“Our shooting athletes have put in tremendous effort. Their performances in the lead-up competitions have been outstanding, and they have made remarkable strides in both physical and mental preparation. The team has cultivated a resilient mindset. I sincerely hope that everyone excels, wins medals, and returns to India feeling proud,” Kusale remarked.

“With every athlete, expectations naturally rise. However, I am confident that our athletes will concentrate on performing their best, setting aside those expectations. They have the capability to achieve great things. We hold high hopes for everyone, including ourselves, as it should be when representing India. I firmly believe the Indian flag will be raised high at the Asian Games,” he added.

Wrestler Antim Panghal also expressed her confidence ahead of the Asian Games, stating that she has thoroughly prepared and gained valuable experience from quality training at the camp with her coaches.

“I am entering the Asian Games fully prepared. Our coaches have equipped us well at the camp, and we have had excellent training partners. My aim is to give my all and deliver my best performance,” Panghal stated.

The Indian contingent aims to surpass its previous best performance at the Games.
