Indian Shooters Fall Short in 10m Air Pistol Event at ISSF World Cup

In the recent ISSF World Cup held in Las Gabias, Indian shooters struggled to qualify for the finals in the Men's 10m Air Pistol event. Mukesh Nelavalli, who previously won gold in the mixed team event, finished 14th, while Aakash Bharadwaj achieved the best score among Indians, placing 10th. Indian Shooters Miss Final in 10m Air Pistol Event

New Delhi [India], April 8: Indian shooters were unable to secure a spot in the finals of the Men's 10m Air Pistol event during the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup held at the Las Gabias shooting range on Wednesday.


Mukesh Nelavalli, who clinched gold in the mixed team event the previous day, was the top performer among the Indian contingent, finishing in 14th place, as reported in a press release.


In a qualification round featuring 86 competitors, Mukesh recorded a score of 579-21x (94, 98, 98, 97, 95), falling just short of the final qualification mark, which was achieved by Anton Aristarkhov with a score of 581-20x. The highest score in the qualification round was posted by China's Xie Yu, who scored 588-18x.


Aakash Bharadwaj delivered the best performance among the Indian shooters, scoring 580-26x to secure 10th place, although he was only competing for ranking points. Ujjawal Malik finished 22nd with a score of 577-17x, while Parmod Kumar ended up in 39th place with 574-16x. Varun Tomar, also competing for ranking points, scored 569-13x, placing him in 63rd position.


In the Women's 25m Pistol event, Rhythm Sangwan and Divya TS both started strong, with both shooters currently positioned within the top eight. Rhythm concluded the day with a score of 292-9x after rounds of 99, 96, and 97, while Divya scored 291-8x with scores of 96, 98, and 97. Simranpreet Kaur Brar had a challenging day, finishing with a score of 282-5x (93, 94, 95).


Abhidnya Ashok Patel and Chinki Yadav, both competing for ranking points, finished the precision stage with scores of 286-8x and 277-7x, respectively.


The rapid stage and finals for the Women's 25m Pistol event are scheduled for tomorrow, along with the qualification and finals for the Men's 10m Air Rifle and the elimination round for the Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions.
