Indian Duo Shines in Rowing Event

In Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on September 24, the team of Satnam Singh and Salman Khan clinched a bronze medal in the men's double sculls final during the Asian Games 2026.

Their finishing time was 6:13.25, placing them 3.48 seconds behind the gold medalists, the Chinese duo Yi Xudi and Nie Yide, and 2.76 seconds behind the silver medalists Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin, according to reports from ESPN.

Throughout the race, Satnam and Salman held the second position at the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m marks but struggled in the final stretch. At one point, they were only half a second behind the leading Chinese pair.

This achievement marks India's 13th medal at the event, which includes one gold, five silvers, and now a bronze.

In the men's singles sculls, Balraj Panwar narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in fourth place. He was in second position at the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m checkpoints but was overtaken by Uzbekistan's Shakhboz Kholmurzaev and Japan's Tatsuya Sakurama in the last 500m. Balraj initially had a five-second lead over Sakurama but ultimately finished eight seconds behind, clocking in at 6:54.80, which was 15 seconds slower than gold medalist Zhiwei Deng from China.
