Indian Restaurant in Glasgow to Correct Map of India After Boxer’s Concern

On Sunday, Ajay Singh, the president of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), announced that a popular Indian eatery in Glasgow has committed to rectifying a map of India that was displayed incorrectly, which excluded the Northeast region. This issue was highlighted by boxer Lovlina Borgohain during a celebratory dinner for the Indian boxing team, who achieved a remarkable total of 10 medals—seven gold and three silver—at the Commonwealth Games.

Singh clarified that there was no conflict with the restaurant's management during the dinner. He stated, “There was no confrontation. It was an oversight, and both Lovlina and I brought it to their attention. They acknowledged their error and promised to make the necessary changes.”

The Indian team dined at Mister Singh’s India, a renowned curry house in Glasgow, on Saturday to commemorate their outstanding performance at the Games.

The matter gained attention when Lovlina, an Olympic silver medalist from Assam, observed that the map of India on the restaurant's napkins and displayed outside was missing the Northeast region.

“I hope this isn’t taken the wrong way. It was a bit disheartening for me. The map of India doesn’t include our Northeast. Even the one displayed outside has excluded it. As someone from the Northeast, this really affects us. That’s all I wanted to express. Please consider this for the future. Thank you,” Lovlina mentioned in a video posted on social media.

This restaurant is a prominent Indian dining venue in Glasgow, having welcomed numerous sports teams and dignitaries over the years.
