Indian Golfers Ready for Singapore Open Challenge

On April 20, it was announced that a mix of renowned Indian golfers and emerging talents from the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) will compete against Asia's finest at the Singapore Open. This event is part of the International Series and the Asian Tour.

Taking place at the Serapong course in Sentosa Golf Club, the Singapore Open marks the second event in this year's Liv-backed International Series, following the recent tournament in Japan.

The Indian contingent consists of seven players, five of whom have achieved success on the IGPL Tour over the past eight months. Notable participants include Pukhraj Singh Gill, the 2025 IGPL Order of Merit champion, and Sachin Baisoya, who recently clinched victory at the IGPL Invitational Mauritius hosted by Leander Paes.

Karandeep Kochhar, who won on the ADT Tour in Egypt in 2025 and the IGPL Invitational Dubai in December 2025, is also part of the lineup.

Gaganjeet Bhullar, the most accomplished IGPL player in this group, stands out as the leading Indian golfer on the Asian Tour with 11 victories. At 37, Bhullar is already regarded as a legend in Indian golf, ranking third on the all-time Asian Tour wins list.

Jeev Milkha Singh, often hailed as the greatest Indian golfer, will also participate. With six Asian Tour wins, four Japan Tour titles, and four DP World Tour victories, he famously won the Singapore Open in 2008 at the same venue. Recently, he ended a long title drought by winning the IGPL Invitational Colombo in December.

Joining Jeev is SSP Chawrasia, a six-time Asian Tour winner and two-time Indian Open champion. His six victories include four on the DP World Tour, which were co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour.

Shiv Kapur, who was named Asian Tour Rookie of the Year in 2005, continues to perform well with four wins in Asia. Like Jeev and Bhullar, he has also competed in Major tournaments.

The IGPL Tour 2026 is already in progress, having hosted three events so far. Bhullar won the opening event in Chandigarh, followed by Baisoya's victory in Mauritius and Udayan Mane's win in Joburg, South Africa.
