Leeds [UK], June 18: As the Indian cricket team readies itself for an important five-match Test series against England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided fans with a humorous insight into the players' thoughts.
In a recent video shared on the BCCI's official X account, Indian players were asked to name the top three things that come to mind when they think of England.
Their responses ranged from cricket-related aspects to personal favorites, showcasing a mix of nostalgia, respect, and excitement.
Shubman Gill, the newly appointed Test captain, immediately mentioned the Dukes ball as his first thought. He added, "The weather, which is always changing, is both thrilling and challenging," and concluded with the "atmosphere of the crowd," highlighting the unique experience of playing Test cricket in England.
New Test squad member Sai Sudharsan kept his answer straightforward: "Weather, hot chocolate, and Dukes," reflecting the charm of England from a first-timer's perspective.
All-rounder Washington Sundar had both cricket and food on his mind, stating, "Swing and seam, India winning many matches here, and food."
Seamer Prasidh Krishna shared similar sentiments about the Dukes ball and the unpredictable weather, adding a personal touch with, "The coffee, I would say. Walking around the city while enjoying a coffee is delightful."
Karun Nair, making a comeback, expressed, "It’ll be character, test, and culture." Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal poetically remarked, "Beautiful, Lord’s, houses," showing his admiration for the aesthetics of England, especially the iconic cricket venue.
Grounded as ever, Shardul Thakur focused on nature and comfort, saying, "The greenery here, coffee, when I go out for a walk, I can think of a coffee, holding a cup of coffee, sipping it through, then, of course, the weather."
