Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], November 23: India's Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia extended his congratulations to the Indian blind women's cricket team for their remarkable achievement in winning the inaugural Women's T20 World Cup for the Blind on Sunday. The team, under the leadership of Deepika TC, triumphed over Nepal by seven wickets in the final held in Colombo.
Scindia praised the team's courage and skill, highlighting their historic accomplishment that brings pride to the nation. He expressed his admiration in a post on X, stating, "India creates history, and it’s our Women in Blue leading the way once again. What a moment and what an extraordinary month for Indian women’s cricket. Our team lifts the Blind Women’s T20 World Cup with remarkable courage and skill. Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also recognized the team's inspiring achievement, calling it a proud moment for the country. He tweeted, "Congratulations to India’s blind women’s team for thrashing Nepal in today’s final match held in Sri Lanka and clinching their maiden World Cup title. The achievement of India’s blind women’s team, overcoming physical challenges, stands as a source of pride and inspiration for millions of countrymen. This is a historic day for all Indians."

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo also congratulated the team, stating that they have made the entire nation proud. He remarked, "I congratulate the Indian team who has made the entire nation proud," while addressing reporters.
In the final match against Nepal, India won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Indian bowlers performed exceptionally well, limiting Nepal to 114 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. In response, India's batters swiftly chased down the target, scoring 100 runs within the first 10 overs.
Phula Saren was instrumental in the victory, scoring 44 runs off 27 balls, including four boundaries, leading India to the win in the 13th over. Karuna K also contributed significantly with a quick 42 runs from 27 balls. Saren's impressive performance earned her the Player of the Match title.
This victory comes just three weeks after the Indian women's team celebrated their win against South Africa in the Women's World Cup 2025 in Navi Mumbai, marking two significant milestones that highlight the rising prominence of women's cricket in India, both in mainstream and visually impaired formats.
Nepal reached the semifinals by defeating Pakistan in the tournament. Following their historic win, captain Deepika TC expressed immense pride in the team's accomplishment, emphasizing the collective effort that led to their success. She stated, "We are very proud and it is a huge win. Our entire team worked very hard. It is a very strong team and other teams are afraid of playing with us. We are even ready to play with the men’s team."
Throughout the T20 World Cup for the Blind, India showcased outstanding performance, remaining unbeaten and securing the title. They commenced their journey with a commanding victory over Sri Lanka, followed by a 57-run win against Australia, and a successful chase of 136 runs against Pakistan in just 10.2 overs. In the semifinals, they defeated Australia by nine wickets before clinching the trophy against Nepal.
In the league stage, co-hosts Sri Lanka managed to secure only one victory out of five matches, defeating the USA. Notably, Pakistan's Mehreen Ali, a B3-level partially sighted player, emerged as the tournament's standout batter, accumulating over 600 runs, including a remarkable 230-run innings off 78 balls against Sri Lanka and a 133-run performance against Australia.
