Colombo [Sri Lanka], November 21: The Indian Blind Women’s Cricket team is gearing up to compete against the Australia Blind Women’s Cricket team in the semifinal of the inaugural Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup for the Blind 2025, scheduled for November 22 in Colombo. Head coach V Chandu and captain Deepika TC have expressed their optimism, emphasizing the team's rigorous preparation and resolve to excel against a formidable Australian squad.
V Chandu conveyed the team's confidence and commitment to perform at their best during the semifinal. He stated, “We are determined to give our all. Our team has worked hard to reach this stage, overcoming numerous challenges. We are just two steps away from our goal. While Australia has strong bowlers and batters, we also possess talented players. If we can limit their batting, we will have a better chance,” Chandu remarked.
Captain Deepika echoed the sentiment, asserting that the team is well-prepared for the upcoming match against Australia. “Having faced Australia before, we are familiar with their tactics. Our squad is exceptional, featuring skilled all-rounders. We are committed to giving our best. Australia has a strong batting lineup, but we are confident in our bowlers. We are ready to perform well,” Deepika stated.
She added, “The Indian women’s team has previously clinched the World Cup title. We watched the final match and envisioned ourselves winning it. Our team is robust, and I have faith in our players. We often discuss our goal of winning the World Cup and bringing it home,” she concluded.
During the league phase, India achieved impressive victories, defeating Sri Lanka and the USA by 10 wickets, Australia by 209 runs, Nepal by 85 runs, and Pakistan by eight wickets.
