India Women’s Team Set to Bat First Against Netherlands in T20I World Cup

Leeds [UK], June 17: In the 10th match of the ICC Women’s T20I World Cup 2026 at Headingley, the Netherlands have opted to have India’s women’s team bat first.
This match marks India’s second Group A game, following their impressive 64-run victory over Pakistan on Sunday.
India has made two adjustments to their lineup, with fast bowler Nandani Sharma taking the place of spinner Arundhati Reddy, and Yastika Bhatia stepping in for Bharti Fulmali.
On the other hand, the Netherlands have also made a single change, introducing Myrthe van den Raad in place of Sanya Khurana.
After the toss, Netherlands captain Babette de Leede expressed her excitement, stating, “We will bowl first. I believe we can extract something from the pitch and aim to chase the target later. It’s a dream come true to play against India, though I’m a bit nervous. We’ve made one change, opting for an extra pacer and dropping a batter.”
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur remarked, “It’s a fantastic chance to bat first, and we aim to challenge ourselves. We’re looking forward to the powerplay with both bat and ball. Sticking to our plans and batting deep will be crucial on this surface. We have one change; Arundhati is resting today, and Nandani Sharma is back.”
