In a remarkable achievement, the Indian women's cricket team, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, celebrated their gold medal victory at the Asian Games 2026. Kaur expressed her joy, calling it a "fantastic feeling" and commended her teammates for their unwavering performance throughout the tournament, which saw them remain unbeaten.

The team showcased their dominance by securing their second consecutive gold medal, defeating Sri Lanka by a staggering 147 runs in the final. The Women in Blue posted an impressive score of 216/3, while Sri Lanka could only manage 69 runs in 15.4 overs.

This victory marked India's first gold medal in this edition of the Asian Games, adding to their tally of four silvers and two bronzes, making it their seventh medal overall.

Post-match, Kaur praised her squad for their high standards and positive mindset, emphasizing the importance of maintaining their unbeaten streak. She highlighted the contributions of every player, stating that each individual stepped up when needed.

The bowling unit also received accolades, particularly young bowlers Kranti Gaud and Nandini Kashyap, alongside seasoned spinners Shreyanka Patil and Deepti Sharma, who played crucial roles in dismantling the Sri Lankan batting order.
