In the previous T20I, India Women showcased an impressive all-round display, achieving a remarkable victory after scoring 221 runs for the loss of just two wickets. The opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma set the tone with a stunning partnership of 162 runs. Verma scored 79 runs off 46 balls, while Mandhana contributed a solid 80 runs off 48 balls, making her the fourth woman to reach 10,000 international runs. Late contributions from Richa Ghosh (40 off 16) and Harmanpreet Kaur (16 off 10) helped push India past the 220-run mark.

In response, Sri Lanka began strongly, with captain Chamari Athapaththu scoring a resilient 52 off 37 balls and Hasini Perera adding a quick 33 off 20. The opening partnership yielded 59 runs, and Athapaththu later formed a vital partnership with Imesha Dulani (29) to keep Sri Lanka competitive. However, the momentum shifted when Vaishnavi Sharma dismissed Athapaththu, which hindered their scoring rate.

Despite some late efforts from Nilakshika Silva (23 off 11), Sri Lanka ultimately fell short of the daunting target. Vaishnavi Sharma (2/24) and Arundhati Reddy (2 wickets) were the standout bowlers for India.
