India U19 Sets Impressive Total Against South Africa

Benoni [South Africa], January 7: In a remarkable display of batting, openers Aaron George and captain Vaibhav Suryavanshi each scored centuries, leading India U19 to a formidable total of 393 runs for 7 wickets in their 50 overs during the third and final ODI against South Africa U19 on Wednesday.


Having already secured the series with a 2-0 advantage, India showcased their dominance. Suryavanshi has been a standout performer throughout the series, amassing 206 runs at an impressive average of 68.66 and a strike rate exceeding 187, which includes one century and one fifty.


After winning the toss, South Africa chose to field first. India got off to a strong start, with George and Suryavanshi (who scored 127 off just 74 balls, hitting nine fours and ten sixes at a strike rate of 171.62) forming an unbroken opening partnership of 227 runs.


George contributed significantly with 118 runs from 106 balls, including ten fours, and added a 52-run partnership with Vedant Trivedi, who scored 34 runs off 42 balls.


Despite a mid-innings collapse to 335 for 7 in 43.2 overs, Mohamed Enaan (28 not out from 19 balls, with one four and two sixes) and Henil Patel (19 not out from 21 balls, with one four) combined for a crucial half-century partnership, propelling India into the 390s.


For South Africa, Ntando Soni was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 wickets for 61 runs in eight overs, while Jason Rowles took 2 wickets for 59 runs in nine overs.


In his 18 Youth ODIs, Suryavanshi has accumulated 973 runs in 18 innings, boasting an average of 54.05 and a strike rate of 164.08, which includes three centuries and four fifties, with a highest score of 171.
