India U17 Women's Team Prepares for AFC U17 Qualifiers
The India U17 women's football team is gearing up for the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup China 2027 Qualifiers by scheduling two friendly matches against Uzbekistan. These matches will take place at the UFA National Football Centre in Tashkent on August 27 and August 30, 2026, and will be held behind closed doors.
These friendly encounters will allow head coach Joakim Alexandersson to evaluate the squad ahead of the Qualifiers, which are set for October 5 to 11. India has been placed in Group E, competing against Malaysia, Syria, and Iraq, as per a statement from the AIFF Media.
AIFF Deputy Secretary General M Satyanarayan commented on the significance of these matches, stating, “Our U17 Women’s team made history last year by qualifying for the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup for the first time and reaching the quarter-finals. We aim to build on that success.”
He emphasized the importance of providing the girls with quality opposition in friendly matches to enhance their development and experience, ultimately preparing them better for the qualifiers. The goal remains to qualify for the Asian Cup again and strive for further advancement in next year’s tournament.
