Gill set the tone for the innings with a steady 56 runs off 71 balls, featuring three boundaries and two sixes, providing a solid foundation at the top of the order. Kohli emerged as the star of the chase, contributing a brilliant 93 runs from 91 balls, bringing India closer to their target.

After the match, Gill reflected on the significance of maintaining focus during a chase, stating, "It always feels rewarding to contribute, especially while chasing. Staying present is crucial for athletes, and that’s my approach."

Gill praised Kohli's performance, noting the challenges of batting on the pitch, saying, "Kohli is making it look effortless right now; starting on these surfaces is tough. I hope he continues to score heavily."

He also discussed the team's bowling strategy and the importance of squad rotation due to the limited number of ODIs available. "Arshdeep performed well in the last series, and with Siraj absent, we aim to rotate players effectively," he explained.

On the fitness front, Gill provided an update regarding all-rounder Washington Sundar, who is currently managing a minor injury. "Washington has a side strain and will undergo a scan post-match," he confirmed.
