India Secures Victory Against England
On March 6, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India emerged victorious against England by a narrow margin of seven runs in the semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. This thrilling match saw former Indian women's cricketer Diana Edulji and IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal extend their congratulations to the Indian team.
After the match, Edulji expressed her delight, stating, “It was an excellent win. I’m thrilled we managed to secure it. The pitch was fantastic, with a total of 499 runs scored today. It was an exciting match, and I anticipate a great final ahead.”
Looking forward to the final against New Zealand, she added, “New Zealand is a formidable team. I hope for a successful day and that we retain our title.”
Echoing her sentiments, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal wished Team India well, remarking, “They have performed brilliantly in these two matches. I believe this momentum will carry us forward, and we will clinch the cup here in India.”
Sanju Samson was a standout performer, scoring an impressive 89 runs off just 42 balls, which included eight fours and seven sixes, helping India set a formidable total of 253 runs in this crucial match.
Dhumal praised Samson's performance, saying, “Sanju played as if he was in Kolkata and truly deserved a century. It was a fantastic innings. We thoroughly enjoyed his batting. The catch taken by Akshar was pivotal; as they say, catches win matches. That catch changed the game. It was a remarkable display of both fielding and batting.”
In response, Jacob Bethell's first T20I century kept England competitive throughout the match, but they ultimately fell short by seven runs.
Hardik Pandya claimed two wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Chakaravarthy, and Patel each took one wicket.
India is now set to face New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
