2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Scheduled in India

The 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is set to occur in India from September 29 to October 26, culminating in the final at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in Mullanpur. Other cities that will host matches include Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Raipur, and Indore, according to reports from a sports news outlet.

Among these locations, Visakhapatnam has the distinction of having previously hosted an international women's match. The ACA-VDCA Stadium last held a women's game in 2014 and has seen a total of six T20Is and five ODIs for women.

Indore has also played a role in Women’s World Cup history, having hosted two matches at the Nehru Stadium, which has since been replaced by the Holkar Stadium as the city's main international cricket venue.

As the host nation, India has already secured its spot in the tournament, joining Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. The final two teams will be determined through the Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, which are set to take place in Lahore starting April 9.

This six-team qualifier tournament in Pakistan will finalize the remaining participants for the eight-team event later this year in India.

If Pakistan qualifies, their matches will be held in either the UAE or Sri Lanka, as per a reciprocal agreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), similar to arrangements made for the 2025 Men’s Champions Trophy.

The bottom four ranked teams from the 2022-2025 ICC Women’s Championship—Bangladesh, West Indies, Pakistan, and Ireland—will have another opportunity to qualify for the Women’s Cricket World Cup.

Scotland and Thailand will also participate in the qualifier tournament, having earned their spots as the next best-ranked teams in the ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings.

This will be the first time India hosts a 50-over Women’s World Cup since 2013, when the Indian team did not advance past the group stage. India also hosted the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2016. The 2025 edition will follow the same structure as the 2022 tournament, featuring eight teams competing in 31 matches.

India is still seeking its first Women’s ODI World Cup title, with its best finish being the runner-up position in 2017 against England. This tournament will be notable as it marks the first 50-over World Cup campaign for India without cricket legends Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, both of whom have retired.
