India Shines at Youth Delphic Games with Bronze in Folk Singing
India's Cultural Triumph at the Youth Delphic Games
The Indian team representing the Modern Pythian Games has successfully wrapped up its participation in the inaugural Youth Delphic Games for SCO Member Nations held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, securing a bronze medal in the Folk Singing category.
This accomplishment underscores India's expanding influence on international cultural stages and emphasizes the growing significance of arts, culture, and traditional heritage in fostering global cooperation, as noted in an official statement.
During the event, Bijender Goel, the Founder of the Modern Pythian Games, delivered a keynote speech at an international conference attended by SCO nations and addressed a special gathering organized by the Indian Embassy in Bishkek to honor the delegation.
In his presentation titled "Delphi Idea 2026 – Powering the SCO’s Digital & Creative Transformation," Goel advocated for the creation of PYESCO, a Pythian Youth, Educational, Sports (Traditional Games & Martial Arts), and Cultural Organisation, aimed at establishing a dedicated platform for SCO countries.
He pointed out that arts, culture, and traditional games have evolved beyond mere leisure activities, now forming the foundation of a burgeoning global creative economy valued at over EUR 1 trillion.
Goel stressed the importance of collaborative efforts, outlining PYESCO’s primary goals, which include safeguarding cultural heritage, protecting traditional games and their intellectual identity, promoting digital literacy among artists in the era of Artificial Intelligence, and fostering a year-round collaborative platform for youth engagement and cultural exchange.
"Just as UNESCO serves the world, the SCO should establish PYESCO," he remarked.
He also highlighted the distinctive nature of the Pythian Games as the oldest cultural games globally, now revitalized to merge arts, culture, and traditional sports within a worldwide framework. He noted the historic inclusivity of these games, where women were celebrated as "Mothers of Culture" over 3,500 years ago, a tradition that continues today with significant female participation.
Reinforcing the philosophical essence of the initiative, he described the "Delphi Idea" as a beacon of peace, dialogue, and unity, calling on nations to revive the spirit of the "Delphi Truce." He stated, "Wars not only devastate nations but also jeopardize the future of our youth. It is time to cease conflicts and embrace music instead."
The Indian delegation's experience was further enhanced by the warm support from the Embassy of India in Bishkek.
The successful participation and the proposal for PYESCO represent a significant advancement towards establishing a cohesive cultural and creative ecosystem within the SCO region.
