India Shines at Asian Games with Silver in Mixed Relay and Bronze in Women's 10,000m
India's Remarkable Achievements at the Asian Games
On Thursday, India celebrated a silver medal in the mixed 4x400m relay and a historic bronze in the women's 10,000m final at the Asian Games. The relay team, consisting of Poovamma Raju, Vishal Thennarasu, Vithya Ramraj, and Manu TS, secured the silver with a time of 3:14.46, successfully defending their title from the previous edition held in 2023 in Hangzhou.
Vithya Ramraj's outstanding performance in the final leg was crucial for India's silver medal. Bahrain clinched the gold with a new Games record of 3:12.87.
In the women's 10,000m event, Seema Kumari finished with a time of 32:50.05, marking a significant achievement as it was India's first medal in this category in 16 years. This bronze medal is only the third for India in this event at the continental games.

Earlier this year, Seema achieved a personal best of 32:02.43 in the 10,000m at The TEN in California, finishing fifth among a competitive international field. She also set a new personal record in the 5000m with a time of 15:16.20 in April.
Seema's consistent performances have positioned her as one of India's top distance runners, focusing primarily on the 10,000m and 5000m events throughout her senior career.
Vithya Ramraj, who played a pivotal role in securing the silver medal, is a talented quarter-miler and 400m hurdler, recognized as a key member of India's relay team. Hailing from Tamil Nadu, she combines her individual prowess in the 400m hurdles with significant experience in the 4×400m relay.
She made headlines at the 2023 Asian Games by equaling the Indian national record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.42 seconds and has represented India at the Olympics, including as part of the 4×400m relay team at Paris 2024.
