India Set to Face Afghanistan in One-Off Test Match
Upcoming Test Match Details
India is gearing up to take on Afghanistan in a one-off Test match, commencing this Saturday at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium located in Mullanpur. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a significant change in leadership, appointing KL Rahul as the new vice-captain, replacing Rishabh Pant. Additionally, Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the entire Afghanistan tour, which includes the Test and the subsequent three-match ODI series, to manage his workload ahead of the upcoming tour to England.
This match marks India's first Test appearance since their two-match series against South Africa in November 2025, where they faced a 2-0 defeat. Notably, this will be only the second Test encounter between India and Afghanistan, with their previous meeting occurring in Bengaluru in June 2018, where India triumphed by an innings and 262 runs in just two days.
