India Secures Silver in Men's 10m Air Rifle Team at Asian Games
India's Silver Medal Achievement
Nagoya: On Monday, India achieved a silver medal in the men's 10m air rifle team event during the Asian Games. Shooters Rudrankksh Patil and Himanshu Dhillon also advanced to the individual finals.
The trio of Rudrankksh, Himanshu, and Parth Mane amassed a total score of 1890.1 for the team.
China took home the gold medal, setting a new world record with a team score of 1899.0 points, surpassing their previous record by 0.6 points.
South Korea put up a commendable effort but ultimately secured the bronze with a total of 1884.2 points.
In the individual qualification, Rudrankksh scored 631.8 points, placing him third, while Himanshu's score of 630.0 earned him seventh place.
Unfortunately, Parth Mane did not qualify for the individual final, finishing in 10th place with a score of 628.3 points.
This silver medal contributes to India's growing medal tally in shooting, which had already begun with a silver in the women's 10m air rifle team event.
The women's team, consisting of Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar, and Vidarsa Vinod, also secured silver, with Elavenil adding another medal in the individual competition.
Overall, India's shooting team has achieved a remarkable record of 22 medals—seven gold, nine silver, and six bronze—at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Srihari qualifies for 50m backstroke final

Tokyo: Indian swimmer Srihari Nataraj has successfully qualified for the final of the 50m backstroke at the Asian Games. The two-time Olympian recorded a time of 25.37 seconds, finishing third in his heat and joint ninth overall to secure his spot in the final. Rishabh Das, who competed in the men’s 100m backstroke on Sunday, clocked 25.41 seconds but narrowly missed the final, finishing 11th overall as a reserve. In the men’s 50m freestyle, Akash Mani and Geetesh Shah placed 26th and 28th, respectively, while South Korea’s Youngbeom Kim set a new Games record with a time of 21.71 seconds. Akash topped his heat with a time of 23.43 seconds, while Geetesh finished last in his heat with a time of 23.57 seconds. Danush Suresh also did not qualify for the 100m backstroke final, finishing eighth in his heat with a time of 1:03.46, placing him 22nd overall. The top eight swimmers qualify for the final.
