India Secures Historic Third T20 World Cup Title
India's Remarkable Achievement in T20 World Cup
India made history by clinching their third T20 World Cup title after triumphing over New Zealand in the 2026 final. This victory marks India as the first nation to secure three T20 World Cup trophies, achieve back-to-back titles, and win a T20 World Cup on home ground. Notably, this victory is India's third ICC trophy within two years, following their wins in the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025. Arshdeep Singh, a key player in the T20 World Cup-winning squad, shared insights into the team's aspirations following their recent successes. In a video released by the BCCI post-victory, Arshdeep mentioned that after their 2024 T20 World Cup win, the players committed to securing at least five trophies over the next decade. He stated, “When we won the last (T20) World Cup (in 2024), me, Hardik (Pandya) bhai, and several core team members agreed that we must aim for at least five trophies in the next ten years. That became our primary goal, and we understood that if we maintained our standards, success would follow naturally. We adhered to our process and trusted our game,” Arshdeep explained.
'Jasprit Bumrah's Exceptional Bowling Skills'
Jasprit Bumrah emerged as India's standout bowler during the T20 World Cup 2026, finishing as the tournament's joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets, including an impressive 4/15 in the final against New Zealand, earning him the Player of the Match award. Reflecting on Bumrah's performance, Arshdeep Singh remarked that bowling alongside him feels like a video game due to his meticulous approach. “It was incredibly enjoyable to bowl with him. For him, cricket seems effortless, almost like he’s playing on a computer. However, his dedication to the process is remarkable. He puts in a lot of effort and motivates us to elevate our own work ethic,” Arshdeep noted.
