India Hosts World Archery Para Series 2026: A Milestone for Local Athletes

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], September 4: Sheetal Devi, an Indian para-archer, shared her excitement about the World Archery Para Series 2026 taking place in India. She highlighted how this event offers local athletes a unique chance to compete on their home turf, while also providing newcomers with invaluable experience.
This marks the inaugural occasion that India is hosting the World Archery Para Series.
The opening ceremony for the World Archery Para Series 2026 was conducted in Ahmedabad on Friday, with competitions set to run from September 5 to 9. Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the event via video link.
Sheetal expressed her joy at participating in an archery tournament in India for the first time, emphasizing the significance of this moment for herself and her fellow athletes.
“It’s a wonderful feeling to have an archery tournament here for the first time. We finally get to compete at home, and new athletes will also have the opportunity to participate. Previously, we always traveled abroad for competitions, but this time it’s happening here, which is truly special. It feels great to experience this for the first time,” Sheetal remarked.
During the inauguration, Amit Shah articulated that India’s sporting aspirations extend beyond merely achieving high medal counts. He emphasized the importance of enhancing performance in major international competitions like the Olympics and Asian Games. Shah also mentioned that India is striving to become a global center for modern sports infrastructure, training facilities, and sports equipment, while also advancing in sports engineering and medical science.
“Our aim is not just to secure the most medals but to strengthen our position in international events such as the Olympics, Asian Games, and Police Games,” he stated.
“The training and coaching facilities at the sports center hosting this archery event will be developed to meet international standards. This center is poised to become a significant training hub for athletes not only from India but globally. In the near future, India will emerge as a leader in sports engineering and medical science, becoming a key medical center for treating and rehabilitating sports injuries,” Amit Shah added.
“In the future, India will evolve into a hub for training facilities and modern sports infrastructure, while also becoming a major player in sports equipment production. We are consistently progressing towards making India a leading center in the global sports arena,” he concluded.
