India Struggles at Tea on Day Three

On the third day of the second Test, India found themselves in a precarious position at 102 for 4 against South Africa as tea approached. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed by a surprising bounce, while Sai Sudharsan and Dhruv Jurel's poor shot selections compounded India's woes.

Initially, India appeared to be in control at 95 for 1, but a series of unfortunate deliveries and questionable batting choices led to a rapid loss of three wickets for just seven runs during the first session.

Jaiswal, who scored 58 runs off 97 balls, showcased his talent with an impressive half-century. However, a delivery from Simon Harmer unexpectedly jumped, catching him off guard. In attempting to adjust his drive, he ended up offering a simple catch to Marco Jansen.

KL Rahul, who contributed 22 runs, formed a solid opening partnership of 65 with Jaiswal, as they seemed unfazed by the South African bowlers.

Yet, two pivotal deliveries—one from Keshav Maharaj and another from Harmer—dramatically shifted the momentum of the morning session.

The pitch appeared to be favorable for batting, and Jaiswal's elegant stroke play supported this notion, as he frequently swept Harmer and even hit Maharaj for a six over cow corner.

Rahul also looked composed, starting with a beautiful cover drive, but Maharaj's delivery, which jumped unexpectedly, caught him off guard, resulting in an edge that Aiden Markram caught at slip.

Sudharsan's struggles against spin continued, as he fell victim to Harmer while attempting a pull shot, reminiscent of his previous performance against the West Indies in Ahmedabad.

Dhruv Jurel, on the other hand, faced criticism for his ill-timed pull shot against Jansen just before tea, leading to his dismissal as Maharaj took the catch.

South Africa 1st Innings: 489

India 1st Innings: 102 for 4 in 36 overs (KL Rahul 22, Yashasvi Jaiswal 58; Simon Harmer 2/39).
