Both teams entered the match with high energy, but it was India who secured the first penalty corner within the first 90 seconds, initiated by a swift baseline run from Mandeep Singh. While India maintained a fast pace, Pakistan's counter-attacks led them to win a penalty corner in the 13th minute. After a failed video referral, Pakistan's captain Abu Bakar Mahmood (13') successfully converted a drag-flick, putting his team ahead 1-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, India took full control, utilizing precise long passes to stretch the Pakistani defense. A setback for Pakistan occurred in the 18th minute when a deflected pass struck teammate Ahmad Nadeem in the face, forcing him to leave the field.

Capitalizing on their momentum, India earned a penalty corner shortly after. Skipper Harmanpreet executed a powerful drag-flick, which Sukhjeet expertly deflected into the net, leveling the score at 1-1 (20'). In the 26th minute, India was awarded another penalty corner, and Harmanpreet's shot found the top left corner, giving India a 2-1 lead at halftime.
