India's Performance at the Asian Wrestling Championships

India wrapped up its participation in the 2026 Asian Wrestling Championships held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Sunday, achieving a commendable total of 17 medals, which includes two golds, six silvers, and nine bronzes.


The freestyle wrestlers contributed significantly to this tally, securing two gold, three silver, and two bronze medals, while the women's team earned one silver and four bronze medals.


On the final day of the event, India had two wrestlers competing for gold, but unfortunately, both fell short against their opponents, as reported in an official release.


In the 61kg freestyle final, Aman Sehrawat faced Kwang Myong Kim from North Korea, losing in a thrilling match that ended with a score of 13-10 in favor of the North Korean wrestler.


Aman, who previously won a bronze medal in the 57kg category at the Paris Olympics, was competing in a higher weight class this time.


Later, Mukul Dahiya faced Iran's Kamran G Ghasempour in the men's 86kg freestyle final, where he lost 0-7, bringing India's silver medal count to six.


Dinesh concluded India's campaign on a high note by securing a bronze medal, dominating his match against Kyrgyzstan's Arslanbek Turdubekov with a score of 12-1 in the men's 125kg freestyle category.
