Slow Over-Rate Penalties Imposed

New Delhi [India], October 5: Both India and West Indies faced fines due to slow over-rates during the concluding ODI of their series held in New Chandigarh on Saturday.

India incurred a penalty of 20% of their match fee, while West Indies were fined 10%, as they were found to be four and two overs short of the required over-rate, respectively, after accounting for time allowances, according to the ICC.

The sanctions were enforced by Prakash Bhatt from the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. Both teams' captains admitted to the violations and accepted the penalties, eliminating the need for formal hearings.

The on-field umpires, Jayaraman Madanagopal and Sam Nogajski, along with third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Virender Sharma, were responsible for raising the charges.

Entering the final ODI with the series already lost 2-0, West Indies concluded their ODI tour of India on a high note in New Chandigarh.

Shai Hope's remarkable unbeaten 162 led West Indies to chase down 352 runs, marking their highest successful run chase in men's ODIs.

The focus now shifts to the upcoming five-match T20I series, which is set to commence on October 6.
