India A's Strong Performance on Day Three
Galle [Sri Lanka], June 27: India A concluded day three of their first unofficial Test against Sri Lanka A on a positive note, thanks to a remarkable four-wicket haul by pacer Auqib Nabi, along with impressive bowling displays from Harsh Dubey and Yash Thakur.
By the end of the day, India A had reached 48 runs without losing a wicket, with Devdutt Padikkal (20*) and Aayush Pandey (20*) both not out. Sai Sudharsan had to retire hurt after scoring 7 runs, giving India a lead of 170 runs.
Sri Lanka A began day three at 113/2, with Nuwanidu Fernando at 65* and Ashen Bandara at 18* unbeaten.
Yash Thakur made an early impact, dismissing Fernando for 84 runs off 142 balls, which included nine boundaries, leaving Sri Lanka A at 143/3.
Bandara scored 70 runs from 162 balls, hitting 10 fours, while Sahan Arachchige contributed 72 runs off 159 balls, with five fours and three sixes, forming a solid 117-run partnership.
Nabi's exceptional bowling (4/58) dismantled the lower order, and Sri Lanka A concluded their innings at 330 runs in 101.4 overs.
Harsh Dubey also shone with the ball, taking 2 wickets for 84 runs, as Sri Lanka A trailed by 122 runs in response to India A's first innings total of 452/6 declared.
India A opted to bat first, with notable centuries from Dhruv Jurel (141* off 215 balls, including 13 fours and a six) and Sai Sudharsan (132 off 175 balls, with 19 fours), alongside a half-century from Shaik Rasheed (63 off 113 balls, with five fours), leading to their declaration at 452/6.
Chamika Gunasekara was the standout bowler for Sri Lanka, claiming 3 wickets for 84 runs.
