Tom Boon made a significant impact for the Ranchi Royals, scoring twice in the first half (11', 17'). However, the Toofans rallied back with goals from Amandeep Lakra (42'), Nic Woods (45'), and Talwinder Singh (57'), turning the match in their favor, as reported by Hockey India.
The match commenced with the Toofans asserting their dominance early on, controlling possession and setting the pace. The Royals, on the other hand, opted for a defensive strategy, looking to capitalize on counter-attacks. The first significant chance fell to the Royals, who earned several penalty corners. Boon converted a dragflick from the second corner, giving Ranchi an unexpected lead.
