In a thrilling encounter, the Hyderabad Kingsmen, under the leadership of Marnus Labuschagne, achieved a remarkable victory against Islamabad United in the second eliminator of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. With just six runs to defend in the final over, the Kingsmen faced a daunting challenge. However, bowler Hunain Shah rose to the occasion, conceding only three runs. He started strong, allowing just one run from the first three balls and then taking the crucial wicket of Faheem Ashraf on the fourth delivery. He managed to restrict the scoring to just two runs on the final two balls, leading to a nail-biting two-run victory for Hyderabad.
The Kingsmen are set to clash with Peshawar Zalmi in the final on Sunday, May 3. Peshawar secured their spot in the final by winning the qualifier against Islamabad, who, despite finishing in the top two, failed to advance to the final.
Peshawar and Kingsmen's Paths in PSL 2026
Peshawar Zalmi dominated the league stage, winning eight out of ten matches and finishing at the top of the points table with 17 points and a net run rate of +2.324. They were the only team to surpass 15 points during the league phase. In the qualifier, they achieved a significant 70-run victory over Islamabad, marking them as the first team to secure a place in the final.
The Kingsmen's turnaround began with the arrival of Glenn Maxwell, as they had lost all four of their league matches prior to his joining. Following his arrival, they won five out of their next six matches, finishing fourth in the standings. They kept their hopes alive by defeating Multan Sultans in the eliminator, thanks to half-centuries from Maaz Sadaqat and Usman Khan, who helped chase down a target of 160 in just 15.2 overs.

The PSL 2026 final is scheduled to take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, starting at 7:30 PM IST on Sunday, May 3. Peshawar Zalmi, who previously won the IPL title in 2017, will face the Kingsmen, who are making their debut in the PSL final.
