Guwahati, Sept 16: After spending seven years with FC Goa, Assam's goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari is set to join Odisha FC for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
During his time at FC Goa, the Guwahati native secured two Super Cup titles and a Durand Cup. His standout achievement was winning the ISL 2026 Golden Glove award last season.
Hrithik expressed his enthusiasm about this new chapter, stating, “I’m excited to begin a new journey with Odisha FC. I hope to continue my good form and contribute to the team's success.”
His football journey commenced at the SAI center in Guwahati, leading to his enrollment in the FC Goa Youth Academy in 2018. He made his senior debut two years later, eventually breaking into the Indian Super League.
His significant breakthrough occurred in the 2024-25 season when injuries to senior goalkeepers allowed him to showcase his skills, quickly becoming a reliable choice for the team.
At nearly 1.90 meters tall, Hrithik played a crucial role in FC Goa's goalkeeping lineup last season, featuring in 10 matches, achieving five clean sheets, and conceding just seven goals. His impressive save percentage of 78.1 highlighted his reliability.
The Golden Glove award recognized his outstanding season and the trust placed in him by the coaching staff.
“I’m grateful to my teammates, coaches, and support staff for their unwavering support during my time at the club. Their encouragement was vital to my performance,” he remarked.
For Hrithik, his tenure at FC Goa was not solely about accolades; it was a period of professional growth.
“I owe a lot to FC Goa for shaping my career. Their belief in me has boosted my confidence and helped me tackle challenges,” he added.
He expressed his gratitude to the FC Goa fans for their constant support, which motivated him to perform at his best.
Among his cherished memories is the 2025-26 Super Cup, where his penalty shootout performance against East Bengal was pivotal in defending the title.
“That was one of my finest moments with the club. My debut against Kerala Blasters on March 6, 2022, will always hold a special place in my heart,” he shared.
Hrithik also had the chance to compete against top international players when FC Goa faced Al-Nassr in the AFC Champions League, sharing the pitch with stars like Sadio Mané and Joao Felix.
His impressive performances earned him recognition at the national level, as he was called up to the India squad by head coach Khalid Jamil earlier this year.
Now, with a one-year contract signed with Odisha FC, Hrithik is ready to embrace new challenges. This transition marks the end of a significant chapter in his career, but he leaves FC Goa with invaluable experience, having won major trophies and established himself in the ISL.
As Odisha FC bolsters its squad with new signings, Hrithik aims to play a pivotal role in the Kalinga Warriors' quest for a successful 2026-27 season.
